The Thai Public Administration is structured into three basic levels: Central Administration at the national level, Provincial Administration at the provincial level, including districts, minor districts, subdistricts and villages, and Local Administration, which includes Municipalities, Sanitary Districts, and rovincial Administrative Organizations. Our focus in this section is on Local administration.

More complete information is available in our center [1] for review.

Thai Public Administration Structure

Local Government Administration of Thailand

Local Administration is composed of three general forms, which are Municipalities, Sanitary Districts, and Provincial Administration Organizations (PAOs). There are two special forms, which are the City of Pattaya and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Municipalities are divided into three categories, according to population density, revenue, and number of inhabitants, into the City Municipality, the Town Municipality, and the Subdistrict Municipality.

Sanitary Districts are areas with less population than Municipalities. Provincial Administration Organizations are rural areas outside the Municipality and Sanitary District jurisdictions.

At present, we provide charts that outline the structure of the Municipality [5], the City Municipality [6], and Provincial Administrative Organizations [7].
