Field Researcher
Ellen arrived in Thailand from Chatham, New Jersey, in the Northeastern part of the United States. She recently graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelors Degree in Arts and Sciences. She finished with a double major in International Studies and Communication and a minor in English.
During her studies at Fairfield, Ellen was involved in various activities. She served as an intern for CBS News in New York. She was also a member of the women’s crew (rowing) team. Ellen also helped create a social justice club on campus which initiated the sale of ‘sweat-shop’ free clothing at the campus bookstore and helped to bring fare trade coffee to the university. During her junior year, Ellen studied at Vesalius College in Brussels, Belgium where she had the opportunity to study international politics and policy in the European capital city.
Since her arrival at D-TRAC, Ellen has contributed to the American Red Cross Water and Sanitation Needs Assessment for two of the six tsunami affected provinces. She is currently working as a researcher on the Last Mile Warning Communications Project, D-TRAC's contribution to the US Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning System Program (US IOTWS). US IOTWS is led by USAID's Regional Development Mission for Asia in Bangkok.
