Saundra was raised in rural Utah, but has spent her adult life living in exotic places including Yellowstone National Park, Alaska, and both the Hopi and Navajo American Indian Reservations. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and a Master's Degree in Education.
Saundra lived and worked in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1997 to 1999. Her work entailed coordinating with NGO's and government offices to to train teachers and environmental educators in student-centered environmental education techniques. In addition to her work in Thailand, Saundra has spent seven years coordinating collaborative projects with community and government organizations, including founding The Jordan River Cleanup and leading the restoration of Denzil Stewart Nature Park. She returned to Thailand in March 2005 as a member of a team of Crisis Corps Volunteers helping with Tsunami recovery efforts. D-TRAC was created based on the success of the Crisis Corps' project.
