Matthew Winpenny

Project Coordinator – Listening Project

Matthew arrived in Thailand from the island of Jersey, Channel Islands, United Kingdom. In 2006 he completed a Master’s level degree in Humanitarian and Development Practice at Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom.

During his studies Matthew developed a keen interest in risk and vulnerability studies, writing his Masters level thesis on None Government Organisations response to the Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia. Since completing this course he has been working for Barclays International, where he was involved with the Community Relations Committee and also as an advisor for the Bukit Lawang Charitable Trust which works within Indonesia. He has also produced to human rights films and was one of the primary organizers of the Jersey Human Rights Film Festival, which is now running into its 3rd year.

Before coming to work for D-TRAC he was volunteering with the Tsunami Volunteer Centre working on Nam Khem 2 Construction site for a month.
